Favourite place by far, or is that place already reserved?
[ Well. If he had to guess it must be the haunted house, surely. ]
I just don't like the reminders in here. The longer I stand around them, the more I feel inclined to think about it -- granted, that's probably the point of it.
Not even close. I do love the haunted house, but really - a number of delightful little locations. But creepy trees are a bit in my wheelhouse.
[since that's where she died! yay!]
I'm sure that's the point of it. And it's natural for anyone to feel tempted by these things, even especially kind people. [which she does consider daan to be. one of scawwy's biggest sweetie pies.] But I suspect, based on our prior conversations, you've already developed enough regrets about the temptations offered by dark magic to have some defenses.
[ Yeah he is just immediately like even though you just told me you were hanged?? He really is just constantly mentally tripping every few steps when it comes to Laudna. ]
Good intuition. [ Well, he hasn't been super subtle. ] The rule I learned is that every action has an equivalent exchange. Even for the mundane... the one who taught me left me a rather poignant line -- that you trade your life, your self in a practice of medicine. That's the price to save others.
I don't know what else I'd lose to kill a person instead.
[this comment actually does seem to dim the slightly creepy cheerfulness, make her more thoughtful.]
I think you can lose a lot that way. For me, that exchange has been more literal than for most. The source from which I draw at least some of my power does make demands sometimes, and deciding what to do can be a complex matter.
That's why I don't, outside of extrenuous circumstances. [ He knows what his profile says, and he's denied it initially, but it's been a while by now. ] The trade you make with demanding powers... you get more, but you lose a lot more too.

It's alright. I understand what you were intending to say.

[ Yet or maybe never, who knows. ]
And to be able to speak about it lightly, considering.

That's definitely one way to look at it. Yeah.
Always looking up when you're at the bottom of it all.

[ Just looking at their held hands a moment, dropping his gaze. ]
You're... actually rather a positive presence. In a way.

I'd like to think I am! At least, I try to be, around those who deserve a little positivity.

It's been an interesting experience, getting to know you. [ You are really so much. ] But I think I've gotten a clearer picture by now.
It's pretty dour to be talking in this musty basement.
...
Though I guess maybe you might consider it atmospheric?

Well... sometimes, you don't get anything at all.

[a light smile.]
No hope to wring as much as you can out of it before the clock runs out?

Depends on the circumstances, anyway...
