Understandable. I don't like being manipulated by powers who mean to use me, either. They'll chew through people and they won't care at all, won't they?
...Pretty much. That's what I think most people misunderstand about the Old Gods. That by gaining access to their powers, they're "favoured" by them.
They only want to see what they want, like watching ants spiral around a drop of sugar even if they exhaust themselves, get trampled, or whatever else...
[she does agree with this quite a lot. it's nice to hear it, even.]
As I said. My friend was one of those "favoured" ones. The god who chose him - she did nothing to help him when he died. She didn't acknowledge him, or mourn him, whatsoever. His death was so... inconsequential to her. And she is one of the good ones.
Fresh Cut Grass. [what a name.] His was a very unusual life, and sometimes he made me quite angry, but I don't like to see someone's faith wasted like that.
[ NOOO NOT FCG!! But also yeah ICly it takes him a solid minute to realise this is a name. ]
Oh. [ Well, that's incredibly memorable at least. ] ...Yeah, I can agree with that. Some people aren't the easiest to get along with, but most deserve some level of baseline respect. For what they do, anyway.
[ He was nodding along at the first part. It sounds reasonable, it's always good to be aware of your limits. But come the second part there is that heavy oddness again, somewhere between discomfort and awkward. ]
[a little giggle, lacing her fingers together like she's amused.]
Was that not clear? I'm dead. [she points to her slightly crooked neck, which has kind of a part that looks like the bone is at a weird angle.] That doesn't just happen on its own.
[ It's a small place. Everything comes back eventually, like a circle. With a slight shake of his head with some semblance of apologeticness in it, he skedaddlin' out for now. ]

This is grim, isn't it?

I'm sorry to hear all that.

[he said so many ominous things. also, she doesn't really want to talk about fcg. she's still mad at him.]

Hard to find someone who hasn't, really.

[ominous is fine, all she cares about is if they're being ominous because they think she's a monster and should die. if not, that's fine, probably.]

No, I... I need answers. At least.
[ Narrator voice, he, in fact, dwells on it. ]

[she's not sure peace really works that way.]

I know not knowing's been eating away at me pretty badly. Thought I may as well give it a try.
I'd like it to...

[genuinely. in her opinion, sometimes knowing more is only more painful, but it doesn't have to be that way.]

[ He coughs awkwardly to himself. ]
Sorry for interrupting you in, recovering your collection you said?
no subject
Just collecting little bits and pieces. Anything that might make for a good craft, some decor.
[she. has a few large rat bones, it looks like.]
Do you have any hobbies, Daniël?
no subject
He thinks about that. Huh. ]
...Making drinks. Too bad all we have is wine that's barely sherry-grade.
Do you drink?

[her body and its functions are such a mystery.]
Though once, when I was alive, I got to go to a very fancy party at a castle with very many fine wines. So I do know all about that sort of thing.
[it seems dubious that you could learn that from one single party, but that's the claim she's sticking with.]

...
I'm sorry, when you were alive...?

...Right.
I'm sorry, I think I should step back outside, actually. Need some air...

[he's clearly going through something personal but she still manages to get her feelings hurt by this.]
Very well, then. I'm very busy, many things to do.
