[she twists her hair around one of her hands.]

...Someone who isn't listening right now, so it doesn't matter anyway.

[she still looks curious, but she can tell it's not the time to push. after a moment:]

Did you speak to them, earlier? Not - whoever you were just talking to, but the four that showed up.

[she nods.]

It's not good, is it.

Not particularly, but we have long enough to figure it out.

You're very confident. I like that. It's the ones who are running around frightened and uncertain who are most likely to be led to a slaughter.

[allomantic]

There's no point in panicking when we have so much time. That's all it is.

[she is maybe putting up a front, but nobody needs to know that.]

[she might assume she's putting up a front, but that's reassuring in its own way, too.]

...Yes. We have time to prepare and plan and find a way to destroy them.

Have you ever dealt with something similar before?

Not really, no. I've heard of people like this, though. There were some nasty people who took over the town I grew up in, when I was young. They wound up sacrificing all of the nobles in the family and a lot of the peasants, too. Bloody affair.

[allomantic]

[frowning, though maybe not as hard as she should given how horrifying that is]

The family, as in - your family?

[undread]

Oh! [she laughs at the misunderstanding.] No, no no. Not my family. The noble family that ruled the city I'm from. They were called the de Rolos, like Pâté. Slaughtered nearly every one and hung them from a tree in the center of town.

As part of a power struggle, or had they done something that they were punished for?

[thinks about asking what the rat has to do with them and decides against it.]

A power struggle, I think. But I'm sure they did something to deserve it at some point. Do you think anyone becomes a lord and lives in a castle without doing something bad to get there?

[allomantic]

[pausing for a moment.]

...I've known a few.

I see.

[lightly, even though we clearly made a social blunder.]

Then maybe it is possible, who knew. The new lady there is quite nice.

[after another moment, moving past whatever made her pause initially:]

What happened to the people who killed them?

[undread]

Killed in turn. Nasty business all around. Though the city is now back under the control of some of the survivors of that original family and is faring quite well. A happy ending, perhaps.

I really don't know enough about it to have an opinion of who ought to be in charge, but the city is a much nicer place now than it was.
