[ oh. it's gross! well, that's fine. he lives with a cat. it's not like he hasn't dealt with a dead rat or two before.
gale is back in his regular clothes with his solid boots that prove more difficult for leeches, and has a cat scratch across his face. ]
... I see.
[ he doesn't see. ]

[ oh. she's crazy crazy. he takes back nothing he said about sorlocks.
he is realizing that he is probably expected to speak to pate. ]
... Is it alright? It seems perhaps a bit disanimated.

Is a rodent corpse a common familiar where you are from or is this your own invention?
[ he has questions. ]
[ he has questions. ]
[ oh. that's actually. kind of sweet? that's kind of sweet. ]
Ah! I understand now, I believe. Normally it is animated through your magic, but because we are shut off from the Weave ...
[ gestures at the lifeless Pâté. ]
He is your only companion ... ?

[ GOD IT'S PROBABLY HORRIBLE. well, he'll watch this with fascination actually, because it's a sign that magic might still sort of work here, and it's somewhat encouraging. ]
Oh, good. That's good! Not that they aren't here, I mean, but that you have them. Tara was my only companion for a long while, and while she is a wonderful friend-- Well. You see my point. [ does she. ] I summoned her when I was eight or so. My parents had denied me a kitten, and I decided instead I would bind a familiar.
Most everyone these days uses the rote spell, but it isn't the same as what the sages before the Spellplague would do. I think it's encroaching upon a shortcut, personally. Certainly you've summoned a cat, or an owl, or some such, but it's only a fey spirit masquerading as one of those creatures and bound to your side through little choice of their own. So I used the old way.
I think what you've made here is quite interesting, in light of that. It's certainly not a shortcut, if a little macabre.

Ah, yes. My familiar. A tressym! Beautiful creature, probably more intelligent than almost everyone in this place. We've been friends for quite a few years now. Tressym used to be quite popular familiars, you know.
She's, ah, perhaps a bit irritated with me at the moment however, and I imagine is sitting somewhere on some roof top and brooding about it. I will have to track her down soon ...

Oh, I don't know. She has been an invaluable help to me. There was a time when I was in great need of a constant stream of sufficiently magical items and could not leave my tower, and she provided above and beyond.
Perhaps we should take a look for her?
Perhaps we should take a look for her?
[ i feel as if he knows that pate is not going to do anything in this moment but yet he still waits to see if he does. ]
[ oh!!!!! will wonders never cease.
well he is quite quickly following because listen. that is a little flying rodent creature and I can't imagine a more exciting possibility for a cat that a toy that floats and waggle so enticingly and he will feel VERY bad if she destroys laudna's creation here within an hour. ]
Her favorite is normally beholder jerky, but that can be very hard to come by ...

[ well that's good because without warning there's a whoosh of wings and something swoops out of the sky, snatches pâté and flaps off in a hurry. gale, being a horrible cat owner, is absolutely delighted. ]
Oh, there she is! Tara! Bring that back!
[ with absolutely NO conviction. he'll jog off the direction she went though, which is the church! ]

[ into the church and up the belltower he'll go. though he has to take a break like, halfway through the stairs because he is out of breath. how is he possibly ripped. i hate it here. anyway.
they get to the top and there sits the famous tara. you know what she looks like. she has pate under one paw, and is giving gale an extremely baleful stare. ]
Tara, would you mind terribly letting Pâté go? You did a rather spectacular job catching him though, I'll say.

[ tara just does a Cat Stare at Laudna for a very long moment. her paw does not move. ]
Erm. Tara ... stop it ... ?
[ there is not an ounce of spine in this statement. tara does look at gale however, and will lift her paw, letting pate fly up again and sitting back to swish her tail back and forth irritatedly. ]
