It was a good idea. We just didn't... understand well enough. And I'm not convinced they had to know of the plan. They just had to know there were enough people at the house that if we were all glittered it wouldn't be as suspicious.
Maybe he wanted an extra one? Or maybe the culprit was glittered by Kanda's balloon and searched to see if there were any others. Perhaps they thought it was something Lavi and Kanda were doing, rather than a group effort.
