Not that I'm fond of evil gods or demons and devils, yuck. Actually, I had a very dear friend who was the chosen cleric of one of the very holy and noble gods.

I must admit, the notion of dealing with gods directly or understanding them in such a... concrete way is a bit beyond what I'm personally used to. Many of you seem to come from such fantastical places.
Not directly at all. In my home, faith is such a strong thing because it's keeping the unwavering belief in something you never see with your own two eyes. Though there are examples and proof of God's miracles everywhere.
You would have gotten along with F.C.G. He always wanted to put his faith that the gods would tell him what to do, even if they never seemed to give him the signs he was looking for.
FCG? [A curious little tilt of his head, and then a look of very faint empathy.] It's always a tragic thing when faith seems to be left unanswered... I do hope that he found what he was searching for eventually.

He was a little unusual. And I think the exploding was perhaps not entirely related to his religious pursuits. But I think it is why I find it hard to understand. Believing, even knowing that you won't get an intervention in time.

...Well, you see. Where I'm from, there's a faction trying to unleash this sort of. Godeater creature to devour all of the gods. Apparently once they're gone, mortals will be able to regain control of their destinies, etc.
We've wound up getting involved with the effort to stop them, somewhat inadvertently. They killed the wrong people, don't seem to care much about collateral damage. But all of the deities have gotten very nervous about this, and are interfering more than they normally would. The experiences have not been altogether positive. Making demands rather than acknowledging we've already sacrificed quite a lot on their behalf. Trying to put down any factions who don't seem aligned with their goals, even if they're only small groups living independently. That sort of thing.

It... rather sounds very much like the sort of squabbles that might break out between disagreeing humans, doesn't it? On a much larger scale, but even so.

I can understand why you wouldn't look favorably upon gods if they're causing so much trouble in your own home.
