Karma was quite tricky. I can’t imagine anyone going after him as an “easy” option — not without being very surprised, at least. [ he didn’t know ichiban enough to say whether or not he’d be a difficult target or not, alas. ]

Daniël suggested perhaps it's heightened emotion. For instance, Boothill did have reason to choose Aventurine, but would not have ordinarily gone through with it.

I'm not certain anyone bore any grudges towards Ichiban or Pickles, but Karma certainly made a few enemies.
Ah, so if you were harbouring a little grudge then that could influence who you chose to kill. [ well rip if he gets possessed, he's all salt and pettiness. ]
