I went back and forth about it a lot, in the past few weeks. Whether it was right to kill the afflicted outright, or if we should keep trying to save them. But I always knew if it was her it wouldn't matter. I would try to save her.

[ nods. of course pretty much anyone is going to feel more strongly about the people closest to them, so that seems natural. ]

You made a really good effort. And it succeeded, kind of. I mean, she did make it through Thursday night.

It's just... none of us could have known that was going to happen yesterday morning.

I'm glad we tried. It's what she wanted. But it couldn't have continued.

Yeah. She knew that too. And I'm sure it meant a lot to her that you all tried so hard.

I hope so. I hope she understands why we did it the way we did it.

She could feel your emotions, remember? So she must have been able to feel how much you cared about her and wanted to make it easy for her.

...Well. I was trying not to let her, but I suppose at the very end.

[so maybe she did understand. at least, the feelings she had at the end were complex, but. she thinks she understood.]

Poor girl. Still. She will come back to herself now. She can feel however she wishes.

Yeah. It's better this way.

...Anyway, you should be able to write to her soon and tell her anything you're worried about her not understanding.
