[ tbh the scene that made me appreciate him as a character beyond just being a sad two-faced shit was one where he just gently logicked at his brother who was having a breakdown, so i like getting to do that with him once in a while.

If it isn't the peaceful, wonderful ending everyone imagines, and there are hard choices to be made, having a sense of self-preservation is, I think, a rather necessary trait. Don't let Lavi sacrifice himself for people who don't deserve it.
